NoteCovering Alleghany Mountain, Coles Mountain and Bolar Ridge, Gathright WMA comprises 13,428 acres in Bath County and is dominated by hardwood forests. The area offers challenging and rewarding hunting for many forest game species, as well as access to Lake Moomaw. Elevations range from 1,400 feet to 3,600 feet along the ridge tops. Access to the WMA is by three main roads that are seasonally opened, but much of the WMA is remote and accessible by foot travel only. Developed camping is nearby on US Forest Service Lands.
